Antique White

Antique White carries the warmth of old paper and varnished wood. The CSS spec inherited it from a Pantone-era palette aimed at interior decorators, and its yellow undertone separates it cleanly from cooler whites like Ghost White or pure white. On screens it works as a calm document background, especially for long-form reading where pure white feels harsh under tungsten light. Deep brown or matte black type sits naturally on top. Place it next to bright yellows and the warmth gets pulled out, the surface starting to read as dingy rather than considered.
