Chartreuse

Chartreuse is the brilliant yellow-green named after the French herbal liqueur first distilled by Carthusian monks in the eighteenth century. The CSS value is exactly halfway between green and yellow at full saturation, which makes it one of the most aggressive colors a screen can produce. It signals warning in safety contexts and youth-energy in beverage or gaming branding. Accent only - full-area chartreuse causes eye fatigue quickly and rarely passes accessibility checks against white. Body text contrast against white fails AA at every size, so it must be used with dark text overlays whenever it appears as a surface.
