Terracotta

Terracotta (Italian for cooked earth) has named the same colour since Roman roof tiles were first fired around 100 BC. The curated hex in this list lands on the warmer, more orange end of the band rather than on the brown-leaning Tuscan tile colour. Heritage food brands, garden suppliers, and the long lineage of slow-fashion labels including Toast and Mara Hoffman all use surfaces in this neighbourhood as primary identity colour. Sage green or cream produces a Mediterranean palette that avoids the obvious red-and-cream cliché. Body text against white passes AA only at sizes 18px and above; smaller copy belongs in a deeper warm brown.
